It’s finally Spring, well on some days lol and I’m excited to finally break out the spring gear! I’ve been hunting my local second hand shops for all the Spring things and I’m excited to finally put my Pinterest “spring inspo” board to some good use! I’m really excited for this season of style because this one is such a nod to styles past. From fringe accents, 1940’s style polka dot dresses and kitten heels, you won’t have to do much digining in a second hand shops to score some amazing pieces to build your spring/summer wardrobe. If you’ve never been thrifting or are intimidated by it, I did an entire series on how and I’ve linked the here, here and here! I’m giving you my top spring trends to thrift to give you motivation to head to your local thrift and find some on your own!
Polka Dots. This is by far the easiest trend to get your hands on in a thrift shop. There’s no shortage of polka dot tops, especially in the black/white variety that’s big this spring/summer season. I’m personally on the hunt for a slightly oversized one to wear with a pair of high-waisted jeans like here or with a pair of shorts when spring and summer are in full swing. I’m also on the hunt for a breezy polka dot dress similar to the one I wore here. I loved it but in a fit of cleaning rage, I tossed it and I’m kicking myself hard now for it lol!
Lavender. Since most thrift stores do a great job of grouping clothes by colors, just head straight for that section and look for pieces that catch your eye! I actually spotted a pair of mens Ralph Lauren trousers in my go to thrift spot The Clothes Rack a few weeks ago and didn’t pick them up; I KNOW! They are long gone by now I’m sure but I’m sure I will come across something soon. This look sans the coat would be a chic springtime look for a wedding or a really fancy night out in the town!
Checks. Not at all surprised that this trend walked out of fall/winter to spring/summer. I predict this is a trend that will become a staple in your closet that you should have. I did a post last year on how to find a classic checked blazer and I’m looking forward to styling it with a pair of shorts once the weather gets a bit warmer.
Fringe. A bit more tricky to find but not impossible. I’ve been seeing a ton of fringe purses in my local thrifts but if you are hoping to score a jacket or skirt, you will have to do a bit of digging. Last year I thrifted this amazing fringe suede jacket and could never really make it work so listed it for sell on Poshmark. When fringe made it to the list of trends, I immediately went to grab it and used Pinterest to find style inspiration and hit the jackpot! If you are looking for ones sans to hunting, there is an endless selection on Etsy!
Kitten Heels. Just like polka dots, there are no shortage of cute little kitten heels in the thrift. I don’t think you need any tips to on how to hunt for a pair that you will love, just hit up the shoe section and browse away! I scored these last year from one of my fave second hand shops and have been in love with them ever since!
