I may or may not have an obsession with high-waisted jeans. I can’t recall the last time I wore a pair of mid-rise jeans and I HAVE NEVER worn low rise; like why were they even created??? Besides them hiding a multitude of tummy sins, high-waisted jeans are very flattering on all body types. I just purchased a pair from the Gap and currently eying these two here and here to add to my collection. I’m a short gal, 5ft though haters will say I’m 4’11 and it can be difficult finding a pair of jeans that won’t make me look even shorter or I have to hack at the bottom but for some reason high-waisted jeans always come thru! I have them in a wide variety of cuts, skinny, wide leg and flare but my go to right now is cropped! They look great with flats, pumps, sneakers, sandals and in some jedi magic trick, make me look a bit taller.
Finding a pair of high-waisted jeans that works for you is all about trial and error so I suggest heading to store and do some experimenting. You want them to fit snugly around your waist, but not so snug you can’t breath; that can happen and you want them to make your butt look flattering. My go to brands for ones that have great fit at a good price point is Gap and Levis. Many of my high-waisted jeans by Levis are vintage and in a surprising twist….mens; for some reason they work! I suggest hitting up your local thrift and trying on a few pairs of mens Levis to see what works best for you!

If you’ve been on the fence with trying a pair, here are a few way I love styling my high-waisted jeans right now!
- With a crop top: Ok I actually haven’t tried this out yet but, I love seeing them paired with crop tops. It gives a very laid back California cool girl vibe. This look is best with a pair of super flare jeans, your highest platforms and really big sunnies!
- With a blouse: My personal favorite way to style them is with a oversized blouse tucked in! It looks super chic; kinda that I tried but didn’t try look. This look is best with a pair of skinny or straight leg jeans and a kitten heel! Keep a few buttons open to stack on a some dainty necklaces and roll up the sleeves just a bit to add a bracelet or two!
- With a blouse knotted: I tried this look for picture purposes only, but I really love how it turned out. I’m a bit bigger in my mid section and wasn’t sure how it would look but I think it looks great! Another one of those simple styling tricks that makes everything look chic without too much effort. I loved this look with a pair of cropped jeans and summer flats.
- With a tee-shirt: If your a sneaker gal this one is for you! This look is best paired with straight leg jeans and a pair of sneakers. Easy-peasy!
If you love a good pair of high-waisted denim let me know why!
