40 Days, 40 Nights

40 Days, 40 Nights

I don’t think I’ve ever been successful at giving up something for Lent. Every year I set my list of things to give up and a few weeks in, I give up. I make weak ass attempts at jumping back on the bandwagon but after a few days I have fallen back off never to try again, resolving to do better next year. Yesterday I was talking to a friend who reminded me that Lent started today and asked what I was giving up. I told him procrastination but long after our conversation was over I added a few things to that list; negative thinking and valuable time.

If you know me well, you know I can be extra negative and very lazy at times. The negative thoughts and laziness comes as a package deal and have been coming more frequent that I like. This always happens when I’m at a crossroads in my life and when I’m trying to figure out what my next steps should be. I’m becoming super restless with my current space in life and frustrated with the process I’m making moving to my new one. This year I’m using Lent to put my faith and trust in God to move me to my next season in life. For the next 40 days no more negative thoughts, no more wasting time and no more procrastination. I will be using this time to really work and shape my long term goals by giving up some of my bad habits.

I know this won’t be easy but I know I can do it!

What are you giving up for Lent?
